Host

Euphlyctis (cyanophlyctis), Haplobatrachus (tigerinus)

Habitat

Liver, Body muscles

Locality

Kohima (Nagaland), Dimapur (Nagaland)

Description

93 encysted specimens were recovered as yellow oval/elongated cyst from the liver and body muscle of E. cyanophlyctis in Dimapur, Nagaland.

Body 2.55 X 1.33 mm.

Remarks

In having a flatten fore body and somewhat hind body, fore body having a disc-like tribocytic organ behind the ventral sucker in addition to pseudo-suctorial depression on either side of the oral sucker, reproductive anlagen comprising tandemly placed testes and pre-testicular ovary, the encysted juvenile fluke recovered  herein from a liver cyst appears to represent Proalariodes tropidonotis Vidyarthi, 1937, the adults of which are intestinal parasites of snakes. These metacercariae have earlier been reported from from the frog hosts in India e.g., from Bufo melanostictus, Hoplobatrachus tigerinus, E. cyanophyctis (Karyakarte, 1967; Mukherjee and Ghosh, 1970b).
